A blast from the past! Very neat shot of something we don’t see much anymore. It’s not just the phone, it’s also the girls’ cards. Now they would be found somewhere on-line!
Thank you, Marcelo! _Resa xo
Thanks Resa.
Unfortunately, while the times are different, some things never change.
Lots of people are feeling so lonely, depressed, hopeless, or having suicidal feelings as to use the telephone counselling service.
Interesting…. but sad like you say.
I wish all good things for everyone. The life on earth is a challenging mystery.
Take care, love to you and be happy, Marcelo!

I love the fact that this simple, enigmatic image has inspired so many and varied quotes. This is what art should do! Good to see your work again Marcelo.
Thanks Anna for your praises.
I always try to create thought-provoking images.
I make photographs whatever moves me to sense life more intensely, while being conscious of the transience of the moment.
This image is such a reminder about just how very public phones used to be. While most people walk around with a phone in their hand these days, it’s different than using a phone that many others have used, and left their fingerprints, graffiti, and advertisements on.
Thanks Laurie
Computers and mobile phones have revolutionized patterns of personal communication, we are “online” whenever and from wherever we want. But I am very concerned about personal intimacy, which is missing so much these days.
m
I’ve had that same idea and have been leaving my mobile in the truck when I visit with friends, whether in a home or restaurant. It seems ridiculous to meet with friends and have everyone stare at their phones!
Thanks Debby
Little by little you get used to not wait for anyone or anything.

“Don’t think for a minute that your friends will telephone you every evening, as they ought to, in order to find out if this doesn’t happen to be the evening when you are deciding to commit suicide, or simply whether you don’t need company, whether you are not in the mood to go out. No, don’t worry, they’ll ring up the evening you are not alone, when life is beautiful. As for suicide, they would be more likely to push you to it, by virtue of what you owe to yourself, according to them.”
Hello? This is your Mother
Are you there?
Are you coming home?
Hello? Is anybody home?
Well, you don’t know me
But I know you
And I’ve got a message to give to you:
Here come the planes
So you better get ready
Ready to go
You can come as you are
But pay as you go
Pay as you go…
Thanks Gavin, I like the song “O superman” by Laurie Anderson but upon a certain point my image has more to do with the song “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd.
Hello? Hello? Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?
Come on now
I hear you’re feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I’ll need some information first.
Just the basic facts.
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can’t hear what you’re saying.
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I’ve got that feeling once again
I can’t explain you would not understand
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.
Thanks Patti.
Although it is hard to believe, a few coins can make the difference between life and death. At critical moments we need to be heard and hear the voices of support of our friends.

What a great shot. You have this unique way of making the ordinary look so very interesting in a composition. It’s probably also that ‘low light’ effect that I love so much too.

No se a que se debe pero siempre he asociado los teléfonos con la soledad.
Es difícil imaginar Londres sin estas cabinas.
